Palazzo is an Italian word for palace. (It’s a large place.) Wide-leg pants are known as palazzo pants because of the large size of the leg openings. (A Palace for your legs!) The pants are best when they have a good “hand” and drape. They need to keep moving after you stop for just a few seconds. They need to swirl and eddy around your ankles. (In these shots, I was spinning around trying to show you the flow. I almost spun myself through the porch-screen.)
In addition to these, I have a burgundy pair, a navy pair, and just ordered a white pair. Oh and a black pair and a pale blue denim.
These crepe, beige pants are my favorites. They're a dream of flow and elegance. Paired with a discreet taupe pump and a white blouse they make traditionally understated tones become a statement. Add a narrow gold chain belt with a single drop on the end and a fabulous bag to complete the look.
(Word to the wise: These pants should never be confused with Paper Bag Waist pants, which are are hot mess for anyone with a waistline above 21 inches. If you have a roll, don’t put it in a paper bag.)
